🌎 A First for Chile: The World's Wine Tourism Awards Come to Santiago

For the first time, the most watched wine tourism awards in the world are coming to Chile. The 50 Best Vineyards 2026 will reveal its ranking of the best winery and vineyard experiences on the planet at a ceremony on 18 November at Viña Don Melchor in Pirque, just outside Santiago.

The event, previously known as The World's 50 Best Vineyards, puts Chilean wine tourism in front of an international wine community, and gives travelers one more reason to explore the country's valleys.

🍷 A Week of Wine in the Chilean Capital

Santiago was named official host for 2026, in partnership with the Government of Santiago and its Regional Corporation. Here is what we know so far:

  • When: the programme takes place during the week of 16 November, with the awards ceremony on 18 November.

  • Where: Viña Don Melchor, located within the Viña Concha y Toro Wine Centre in the Maipo Valley.

  • Who: The 50 Best Vineyards, which announced Don Melchor as Official Venue Partner on 8 October.

⛰️ Why Chile Is Such a Natural Host

Few wine capitals sit this close to their vineyards. From Santiago, two very different wine worlds are a short drive away:

  • Maipo Valley: the historic home of Chilean wine, often called the Bordeaux of South America for its Cabernet Sauvignon.

  • Casablanca Valley: a cool-climate valley known for crisp whites and Pinot Noir, within easy reach of both the capital and the coast.

🛎️ The Next Step: Plan Your Wine Days with Us

November is late spring in Chile, with vineyards in full green growth and pleasant days for tasting. Hotels, restaurants and the best-known wineries tend to fill up quickly during major events, so we recommend arranging your days early.

With Julio Private Tours, you can explore our Casablanca Three Wineries tour or our full-day Santiago & Two Wineries experience, each with a local guide and a pace set around your group. Visits to estates in the Maipo Valley and other regions can be arranged on request.
